Gabriele Bruni
A sailor and popularizer, Gabriele Bruni is a former Olympic and America’s Cup sailor and is currently the technical director of a very strong Italian Olympic team on the Nacra 17 mixed catamaran.

Sailor and popularizer, he took part as a competitor in the Olympics and in the 32nd America’s Cup, today he is the DT of the Italian Olympic team of the Nacra 17 mixed catamaran. The crew formed by Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, selected and trained by Gabriele Bruni, won the Gold Medal at Tokyo 2020.

Gabriele “Ganga” Bruni is one of the best-known Italian sailors. He took part with his brother “Checco” – now helmsman of Luna Rossa – in the Sydney Olympics in 2000 on the 49er skiff, a class in which he won 4 Italian championships and was European vice-champion. He participated in the 32nd America’s Cup in Valencia as a strategist of +39 Challenge, a role he also held in the Louis Vuitton Trophy of 2008/09 on the revived Azzurra project of the Yachting Club Cota Smeralda. Already world champion of Hobie Cat Tiger, in the last two Olympics he has been Technical Director of a very strong Italian Olympic team of the mixed catamaran Nacra 17, with which he won 5 world championships and a brand-new gold medal in Tokyo 2020.

In addition to his sporting talent, “Ganga” is also a successful disseminator of sailing on social channels and with the television audience, who appreciated him in the recent America’s Cup when he was called to comment on the regattas in New Zealand.

Gabriele Bruni has made available to One Ocean Foundation Thanks to these communication skills, to spread the sense of urgency for the protection of marine and coastal environments, especially among young people who approach nautical sports, pushing them to adopt good practices listed in the Charta Smeralda.
