Never give up on your dreams

“Even when the road seems to be uphill you should never abandon your dreams” the phrase that has forever united us to Roberta Amadeo, 48 years old, a freelance architect and for six years President of the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association.

A born sportswoman, she is a handbike champion (winner of the road and time trial world championships in 2019, she boasts 7 pink jerseys in the Giro d’Italia Handbike, 8 Italian titles and 6 European titles in the WH2 category). She started her career in judo, which she had to abandoned due to problems related to multiple sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with at just 22 years old.

Italian President Giorgio Napolitano himself awarded her the honor of Cavaliere della Repubblica in 2008, and in 2015 she won the Rosa Camuna Prize.
Her path has been an uphill one, but she has always and will always hit the road with her foot on the accelerator.

“Illness is a continuous challenge,” she says, “we all want to build a world in which we can fully be ourselves, with the same opportunities to realize our projects, to fulfill our passions and our desires, sporting and otherwise.”
