Solo sailor Ambrogio 'Bogi' Beccaria, One Ocean Foundation ambassador will participate in the Route du Rhum, the legendary transatlantic solo race that takes place every 4 years. The race departs from St. Malo, Brittany and will arrive in Guadeloupe for a total of 3,542 nautical miles (6560 km). With his Class40 'Alla Grande -Pirelli' Ambrogio will certainly face a challenging race and at the same time he will promote the More Miles Less Plastic initiative.
"We have chosen to promote and support One Ocean Foundation’s #MoreMilesLessPlastic initiative, to raise awareness and make a concrete contribution to the problem of plastic in the ocean: for every mile that I will navigate during the Route du Rhum, with OOF we will collect 1kg of plastic from the coasts, avoiding it to enter in the sea. The initiative is designed to have a tangible, measurable and certified impact through the collection of waste from coastal areas of developing countries. The plastic collected will be recycled and reintroduced in the value chain and the coastal populations engaged will receive life-improving benefits".
