On February 12, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team auctioned two bicycles in favor of the One Ocean Foundation’s “No plastic in the Ocean” project.

Sea pollution has always been an issue to which the team is particularly sensitive. Each day, an average over 5 kg of plastic accumulates along every kilometer of coast, which is then dispersed into the sea. For this reason Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli has decided to join the One Ocean Foundation project “No plastic in the Ocean“, auctioning two of the three bicycles made by the Italian company TITICI and used by the team during training.

The bicycles are three F-DB02 models, customized and signed by Max Sirena (skipper and team director), and by the two helmsmen, Checco Bruni and Jimmy Spithill. Built entirely in Italy, with the precision and craftsmanship that distinguishes this prestigious brand, the bikes are equipped with a carbon frame with a technology that allows the absorption of up to 18% more vibrations than standard frames, while the wheels are fitted with Pirelli P ZERO ™ clincher tires, which have always been used by the team on bike training outings.

The auction was held on the Charity Stars platform and the funds raised will allow the removal, through associations such as Plastic Bank, of 25 tons of plastic from the coasts of developing countries. The waste will be recovered and reintroduced into the production cycle, thus promoting the development of a local circular economy.
