Malcesine, Lake Garda – Thirty international crews have started the RS21 European Championship of which One Ocean Foundation is the “Sustainability Partner” at the Fraglia Vela in Malcesine, on the Veronese side of Lake Garda. The 20 ft boathas been designed to have the least possible impact: from recycled plastic to bio-derived resins for the hull, to vegetable packaging for delivery to the standard retractable inboard electric motor. The RS21s are also designed to be stacked, keeled, three at a time and stowed in six per container, thus optimizing transport.

The Italian class strongly wanted to continue on this sustainable line –

declared the president Davide Casetti

– compensating the residual CO2 emissions in regattas

”.

On the occasion of the European Championship, the commitment of One Ocean Foundation went beyond the dissemination of “best practices” for those who sail: in fact, with the support of Guglielmi Rubinetterie,

dispensers were installed at the disposal of competitors to use in specially provided water bottles, to stimulate the abandonment of plastic bottles.

The event will end on Saturday 23 October but the RS21 class and One Ocean Foundation’s commitment will continue in favor of the protection of the sea.
