Get organized for cleanups
An exemplary project

A new awareness is being imposed on the general public in the wake of the pandemic. The concept that all living organisms are connected to each other, even if they are on opposite sides of the world, has spread like never before.

A realization that if the planet and the seas are sick, we will also get sick. That we need to do something urgently before it’s too late. Aside from decisions that are up to governments, we can all help out, and right away. Helping to clean up the environment, our habitat, is something anyone can do.

Igor d’India is an example of what we can all do to combat pollution in our habitats.

I believe that there is a need to multiply the constructive activities of coastal communities (from organized cleaning of beaches to cleaning of the seabed), but also those that live along rivers” he says, “During the filming of The Raftmakers I saw untold horrors on the rivers of Italy and other countries. The health of the sea starts from upstream communities. It’s all connected in one big water cycle".

So we can all take care of an area close to home (a beach, a cliff, a river, a stream, a pond), organizing garbage cleaning with local authorities and associations, and develop new ways to live within our regions in a sustainable way, protecting the environment instead of exploiting it.

And just to clarify:
Everything must always be done with the head as well as the heart. It only takes a moment to go from a citizen who takes care of the area to a bossy tyrant. It’s best to avoid fanaticism and stay humble, convincing others by example”.
