On November 22, the ocean met creativity at Milan Games Week & Cartoomics, thanks to One Ocean Foundation's special event, “Ink Duels”.
This engaging initiative highlighted the vital connection between art and science, demonstrating how powerful storytelling and visual art can inspire action for ocean conservation. Comics and illustration are not just forms of entertainment—they are a bridge that connects complex environmental issues to the hearts and minds of a wider audience.
On stage, two talented artists, Elena Casagrande and Maria Laura Sanapo, faced off in an epic battle of creativity, bringing to life the beauty and fragility of our oceans through their artwork. The dynamic duel was moderated by Giovanni Zaccariaand supported by Foundation's Secretary General Jan Pachner, who emphasized the importance of raising awareness about ocean protection through diverse and innovative platforms.
The event underscored how art can communicate scientific concepts in a compelling and accessible way, making issues like biodiversity loss and marine conservation more relatable and engaging for the public.
The stunning artworks created during the event are now being auctioned on eBay, with all proceeds supporting our mission to protect the ocean.
By merging the worlds of comics and environmental advocacy, we hope to inspire a new generation of ocean defenders.
