On September 4, the Italian Youth Sailing Championships in Single Classes – Kinder Joy of moving 2025 officially started on Lake Garda, a major sporting event promoted by the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) and organized by the Garda Trentino Vela Consortium.

Beyond the regatta, the program has placed strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental education, thanks to the contribution of One Ocean Foundation, FIV’s Sustainability Partner.

At the FIVillage in Torbole, the opening conference welcomed experts and institutions to discuss the protection of aquatic ecosystems. Among the interventions, opened with a greeting from FIV Vice President Giuseppe D’Amico, Gaia Peretti from One Ocean Foundation presented the Foundation’s commitment to the reforestation of Posidonia oceanica meadows in the Mediterranean—a project capable of protecting marine biodiversity, countering coastal erosion, and reducing CO₂ emissions. Alongside her, Vanna Benini from the Riva Divers Group provided an update on the protection of the local ecosystem from invasive plants in Lake Garda, and Luca Marrucci from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa spoke about the importance of sports in educating young people on environmental issues.

The collaboration between One Ocean Foundation and FIV continues with the shared mission of raising awareness among the new generations of sailors, demonstrating how sport and sustainability can work together to protect our oceans.

The Italian Youth Sailing Championships 2025 will run until September 7, bringing together hundreds of athletes across different classes – from Optimist to ILCA, from Techno293 to iQFOiL – turning Lake Garda into a unique stage where sport and environmental responsibility meet.
