Get Ready for One Ocean Week 2024
A full week of activities and events dedicated to the underwater world is coming up!

On May 7, One Ocean Foundation held the press conference to present the new exciting program of the One Ocean Week 2024 at the Civic Acquarium of Milan.

From June 3rd to June 9th, there will be a special week of events, meetings, and educational workshops aimed at promoting knowledge and raising awareness among companies, young generation, and the general public about the value of the ocean, while promoting Milan as a leading city in sustainability and a standard-bearer for maritime values.

In collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and with the support of numerous partners, this edition will take place in iconic sites throughout the city. Each location has been selected not only for its architectural beauty or historical significance but above all for its intrinsic connection to the themes of sustainability and environmental knowledge. The Bocconi University, recognized as the world's most sustainable campus; the Darsena, transformed into a water theater that emphasizes the direct connection of water with the urban environment; the Triennale and the Civic Museums, places that highlight the importance of integrating art and science into discussions concerning the ocean. Together, these locations will not only host events but will themselves become expressions of a collective commitment to a more sustainable and responsible future.

This event is completely free and open to the public, focusing on three key areas: economy, science, art & culture.

The One Ocean Week also confirms its international scope: this year, Milan is promoting the World Oceans Week 2024 campaign, forging partnerships with other cities worldwide, starting with New York.

Neptune’s Abyss - Triennale di Milano

At the Triennale di Milano, artist Yu Linn Humm will present "Neptune’s Abyss," a unique live cello performance accompanied by an immersive projection of images. An artwork that delves into the deep connection between humanity and the ocean, highlighting the challenges of ocean warming through Humm's multidisciplinary art, combining music and visuals to transport the audience into a reflection on the wonders and fragility of our marine ecosystem. During the evening, the short film "Posidonia oceanica. Una speranza per il Mediterraneo" will also be presented, created by the One Ocean Foundation as part of the international marine reforestation project Blue Forest.

Educational activities - Acquario Civico e Museo di Storia Naturale

One Ocean Foundation, in collaboration with the Civic Aquarium of Milan and the Museum of Natural History, will organize a series of activities – guided tours, educational workshops, and talks – dedicated to youth and families with the aim of educating and raising awareness about the importance of the ocean and the water cycle.

The Civic Aquarium will also host, with the support of One Ocean Foundation and the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Milan, the installation "Nell’Oceano di Tethys" by Brazilian artist Louise Manzon, curated by Marina Mojana.

Water theatre - Darsena

The Darsena will be transformed this year into water theatre under the guidance of Anna Favella, actress and One Ocean Foundation Ambassador, who will moderate the Ocean Cinema and Ocean Talks. A program rich in films, short films, and debates dedicated to the relationship between humans and the sea. These evenings, organized in collaboration with the Cineteca di Milano and the Ocean Film Festival, will offer the audience the opportunity to immerse themselves in thematic screenings and engaging discussions with scientists, athletes, and entertainment figures.
