One Ocean Experience II: 24 students dive into ocean conservation thanks to OOF
Two days of activities above and underwater for the 24 winners of the One Ocean Challenge

As part of its commitment towards the younger generations, on October 2 and 3 One Ocean Foundation held the second edition of the One Ocean Experience. The initiative was held in the Marine Protected Area of Portofino where 24 students from two classes from the Bertarelli Ferrari Institute of Milan, the winners of the One Ocean Challenge, had the opportunity to discover the local marine biodiversity.

This educational activity took place at the renowned Outdoor Portofino outdoor sport center situated in the Niasca Bay. Here, the students embarked on an immersive journey into the wonders of the marine world. Under the expert guidance of dedicated ecologists, they set out on kayaks to explore the bay's rich biodiversity and delicate coastal ecosystems.

Equipped with masks and flippers, the students also delved into a snorkeling experience, exploring the underwater realm that thrives beneath the surface. This hands-on encounter allowed them to witness the marine life within the protected waters of Portofino, while deepening their understanding of the critical importance of ocean conservation.Armed with citizen science slates, the students actively participated in data collection by reporting the species they observed above and underwater directly contributing to the conservation efforts of the Marine Protected Area of Portofino.

One Ocean Foundation's commitment to nurturing environmental stewardship among the younger generation was demonstrated during this impactful eperience, leaving a lasting impact on both the students and the waters of Portofino.
