Searcular Beach Harvest
From waste to design product

On 21-22 July One Ocean Foundation took the field with the “Searcular Beach Harvest” beach cleaning initiative at the Grande Pevero beach.

Equipped with a bag in recycled sailcloth and gloves, the participants collected different types of waste found on the beach, touching firsthand the problem ofLplastic pollution in the sea and on beaches.

The activity, designed by Flavio Paolo Graziano, founder of Ombrosa, made it possible to raise awareness of the problem of waste and its correct management, of the importance of a transition towards a circular and zero-waste economy. The plastic waste collected was then divided by type and thanks to the support of “Supernovas”, a startup dedicated to the recycling of plastic materials, a workshop was held on the topic of up cycling and on how it is possible to create new useful products from the plastic waste collected.

The initiative is one of the activities of the Blue Week Week promoted by the Foundation with the aim of promoting the protection of the sea with the support of: Municipality of Arzachena, Consortium Costa Smeralda, Marina di Porto Cervo and Smeralda Holding.

The plastic waste collected was then divided by type and thanks to the support of “Supernovas”, a startup dedicated to the recycling of plastic materials, a workshop was held on the topic of up cycling and on how it is possible to create new useful products from the plastic waste collected.
